£1m hotel conference checks in with tourist board

The Annual Hotel Conference (AHC) has signed a four-year deal with Visit Manchester to keep the event in the city until 2015. It is expected the deal will generate £1 million for the city’s economy during the next four years.

Hotel owners, operators, developers and investors will gather at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate on October 3-4.

Christopher Eddlestone, chief executive, AHC, said: “We see our partnership with Visit Manchester as an integral part of our plan to develop the conference. There was a 25 per cent increase in the number of delegates in 2011 and we believe this demonstrates the great potential there is for the conference and the host city. The AHC is the only conference which is held outside London and this allows a genuinely national reach and focus which we know is required by hoteliers in the UK.”
