ASICS makes a statement at the 2024 Auckland Marathon with Evolution Dome
Air Space Structures, the Auckland-based provider of air beam inflatable structures from Evolution Dome, provided a 10m and an 8m dome for international sports brand ASICS at the Barfoot & Thompson Auckland Marathon on November 3rd, 2024.
The domes offered a striking visual element and enhanced functionality for runners and sponsors. The 10-meter dome, situated prominently within the Viaduct Event Centre, served as the central hub for the event registration layout. This provided a spacious and visually appealing environment for all participants to pass through when collecting their race numbers and essential information. ASICS also used the dome as a highly visible branding opportunity, foregrounding its presence as a major event sponsor.
“We were looking for something that would stand out at the marathon, create focal points at the start and finish of the event, and feel on message with the brand. The Evolution Domes fit the bill perfectly, highly visible, distinct and with a strong sustainability message, they were the ideal temporary structure,” commented Matt Wallace, ASICS NZ sports marketing manager, Brittain Wynyard & Co Ltd.
At the finish line in Victoria Park, an 8-meter dome provided a dedicated zone for athletes to recover after completing their challenging runs. This dome also housed brand activations, further enhancing the overall event experience.
Martin Avard, director, Air Space Structures, added, “The successful deployment at the Auckland Marathon follows a similar project at the Hawkes Bays Marathon in May 2024, showcasing the domes’ versatility and effectiveness for large-scale athletic events.”
