BBC’s Blue Peter to hit the road with Big Olympic Tour

Children’s BBC TV programme, Blue Peter is to tour the UK this summer with a series of live programmes and public events to celebrate the arrival of the Olympics. Blue Peter’s Big Olympic Tour aims to get CBBC fans in the mood for London 2012.

Nine live television broadcasts will be followed by a free public family event run by BBC Learning, and each event will feature interactive activities.

The tour will visit nine locations, starting at Caerphilly on May 26. It will then call at Belfast on June 2, Levengrove Park, Dumbarton, on June 9, Sunderland on June 16, Burnley on June 23, Wolverhampton on June 30, Saffron Walden on July 7, the Isle of Wight’s Osborne House on July 14 and finally Central Park, East Ham, London on July 21. The events begin at 10am and end at 4pm.

CBBC fans will get the chance to try out a range of Olympic events, investigate the science of sport, go back in time to try out the Olympic Games of a bygone age, have a go at being a sports commentator, and lots more activities to get them thinking about or trying something new. They’ll also get to take home an Olympic fact pack to get them ready to watch the Games this summer.

The live broadcast is a ticketed but entry to the family event following the programme is free and no ticket is required.
