Event industry to brief MPs at Commons event
Events industry professionals are to brief Government figures and MPs at the House of Commons. On September 5, Nick de Bois MP, chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Events, will host a briefing in the House of Commons Members Dining Room as part of the Britain for Events campaign.
The event is open only to members of the Business Visits and Events Partnership (BVEP) and partners and supporters of the Britain for Events campaign. Government ministers, members of both Houses of Parliament, as well as senior representatives and policy leaders from DCMS, UKTI, UK Sport and BIS, will be invited to attend.
Comments Michael Hirst, chair, BVEP, and campaign spokesperson for Britain for Events: “We’re looking to maintain our presence in front of this important audience and present a chance for leaders within the events industry to influence senior ministers, politicians and business representatives.
“We unveiled our message to policy makers and the wider business industry at the Britain for Events launch last week and this is just one of the activities we have planned to carry the message to each of our target audiences.”
The Britain for Events campaign has published a 20-12 fact sheet for members of the events industry to distribute widely among buyers of meetings and events. The literature is hosted on the campaign website and outlines 20 reasons why business should support the industry, and the 12 opportunities for growth for the industry.
