Event scholarships offer experience at London 2012

Twelve event management professionals or students are being given the chance to learn and gain experience at Wimbledon and London 2012 – the Event Business Academy has launched an event scholarship programme that offers 12 places on its Event Essentials course that takes place in July and August.

Based at the Graduate Centre of Lincoln College (Oxford University), EBA offers hands-on courses in event management. This year, EBA’s “12 for 2012” scholarship programme is making 12 places available to applicants who can demonstrate their passion for the event industry and commitment to excellence in their work.

Anyone wishing to apply for the scholarship has until April 30 to submit an application. A judging panel of senior executives, including Smyle’s Rick Stainton, will make the scholarship awards based on the stated criteria.

EBA’s scholarship programme is supported by Nick de Bois MP, chair, All Party Parliamentary Group for UK events and former industry professional.

He said: “I know from personal experience that event management can be a very challenging but rewarding industry. I am delighted to see this investment in our young and talented students by offering practical training that will help shape their future. The scholarship programme will help enable 12 of the most dedicated applicants to learn from the UK’s world-class events and create an enduring legacy. It is crucial that the industry responds to future challenges by supporting more professional training at all levels and this contribution is very welcome indeed.”
