#EventProf of the week: Billy McClean, Lovebrunch
Each week we will focus on a StandOut individual who has been extraordinary within the events industry. This week it is Billy McClean, co-founder (right) of Lovebrunch alongside Kasie Maunders (left).
How did you get into the events industry? Where has your career taken you and what roles have you enjoyed?
I have been working in events for the last 16 years, hosting club events, raves and brunches. I fell into events because I have a passion for music. My friend is a DJ so we decided to throw a party and reach out to our long list of MSN and Blackberry contacts! That was many years ago.
We first met Kasie in 2015. She has skills in marketing, graphic design and websites. I have promoting, networking and event management skills, which little did I know would be the perfect blend for one of London’s biggest bottomless brunch brands.
The Lovebrunch story began in November 2017. Kasie took me for a bottomless brunch in London. It was your typical “Bottomless Brunch” which consisted of a “traditional” English breakfast, eggs benedict, bottomless prosecco, mimosas and espresso martinis. There was zero atmosphere, the food wasn’t giving and the drinks on offer were just calling hangover.

The biggest red flag for us was the atmosphere. You drank as much as you could handle to your heart’s desire in the space of 90 minutes, but there was no music or DJ to add to the vibe.
This is what inspired me and Kasie to create Lovebrunch and why it’s now one of the biggest party brunches in the UK… because we were simply bored at brunch!
I convinced Kasie to join the promoting game and in 2018, we founded the Lovebrunch brand and began hosting our own brunch events.
In the South East area, there was nowhere that offered an appealing food menu, a variety of drinks and an atmosphere for a bottomless brunch. Kasie is a super fussy eater and drinker, so she created our now famous Lovebrunch menus, as you can’t go wrong with a burger and chips, chicken strips and pornstar martinis.
When Lovebrunch began, it was a side hustle, a bit of fun, nothing too serious. The demand and interest then grew year upon year, turning the brand into a well-known bottomless brunch spot in the local area.
Now Lovebrunch has expanded into two Greenwich venues and is expanding into Vauxhall in April 2025, and we have launched Brunchfest, the UK’s first summer bottomless brunch festival.
It has been a great pleasure to plan events a whole year in advance and to the scale of what we have done so far from weekly brunches of 70-100 people to festivals for more than 400 people.
What is it about your job that you love doing?
Bringing people together, giving people a safe space creating memories that will last a lifetime. Being that place that we hope thousands of people will look back on in years to come and be like “ah remember when we went to Lovebrunch, we had such a good time!”. Just like when you hear your mum and dad speak about the good old days in Old Kent Road. This is what we envision for Lovebrunch.
What’s been the standout moment of your career so far?
The fact that Lovebrunch has inspired other brands and restaurants. It has been crazy to watch others take our brunch formula that we have worked on and perfected over the last six years and put it into their own brunch brands and venues.
What’s been your biggest achievement? Equally, what have you done that you can now look back on and be super proud of due to its challenges?
The biggest moment has been the birth of Brunchfest, our bottomless brunch festival. When launching in 2023, we had never hosted a brunch to that scale before. There was a huge demand and interest, and people loved it. We then brought it back for 2024 and that was truly the highlight of our career. Everything about the day was just a massive high: the energy, the crowd, the DJs, the music, the weather. It was just one of those days you look back on and think, we did this, this was us. A feeling like no other with 500 people all living their best lives.
What key pieces of advice would you give to someone starting in events?
Just do it. No idea you have is too wild. No idea you have is too big or unachievable. Sounds crazy but manifest it, take yourself to the event, if you believe in it and can see it, it will work.
What career goals do you have and where do you see yourself heading? For example, is there an event that you would love to work on but haven’t?
We are aiming to be the biggest and best go to bottomless brunch party worldwide. We aim to upscale our festivals to a higher volume, expand to different locations and venues and continue to grow the Lovebrunch gang.
