Exclusive car event unveils Royal venue for 2013

ConcoursofEleganceThe UK Concours of Elegance classic car event is to have a new location for 2013 – Thorough Events, organiser of last year’s inaugural UK Concours of Elegance at Windsor Castle, has revealed St James’s in Central London as the new venue, an area that encompasses the gardens of 300 year-old Royal Palace Marlborough House, adjacent to The Mall and St James’s Palace, official residence of the Sovereign.

Special permissions have been granted to use the space from September 5-7, 2013, when 60 of the rarest and most historic cars will be on display on the lawns of Marlborough House.

The event will offer owners and visitors a unique experience, says Thorough Events. In addition to the display of 60 cars, numerous events and features are being planned including an “Ancient and Modern” display by leading manufacturers: alongside a rare classic from each marque’s heritage will be a new or prototype car.

A celebration dinner for VIPs and owners of the 60 cars will take place in the State Apartments of St James’s Palace, on September 6 also.

The event aims to raise considerable sums for Marie Curie Cancer Care, Pilot Light, Action on Bladder Cancer and Rosetrees Trust; last year’s event raised in excess of £250,000 for charitable causes.

His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent has agreed to become patron of the annual Concours of Elegance too.
