Festyvent launches Safe@Festival app feature

Festyvent, a UK data analytics firm that promotes and creates apps for festivals, live events and venues, has revealed a new app feature that allows members of an event or festival audience to alert friends and family members to their exact location if they fall ill or feel vulnerable. Those contacted will be able to track the sender of the message, live for 60 minutes, using Google Maps either through GPS co-ordinates or what3words.

David Jacobs, founder and CEO of Clarifi Media, Festyvent’s parent company, commented: “We have become increasingly concerned that festivalgoers can sometimes get into difficulties and need to alert and communicate their exact location to friends or the festival emergency services as fast and simply as possible. We are convinced that this new feature will help people to feel safe at festivals and enjoy what they came for – the music, the experience and the festival vibe!”

The new app feature is called Safe@Festival and is found on the menu bar of the given festival app – Safe@Festival is available for integration with third party apps. Festyvent can also provide white-labelled apps to organisers and promoters.

Safe@Festival is one of a number of new app features. Festyvent has also developed SmartMap, which gives event and festivalgoers an accurate geographical location, better orientation and sense of direction on a festival site. This is achieved by overlaying a custom drawn map on an actual map and creating a “festival-country space”.

Oliver Zucker, operations director at Festyvent, said: “We place the audience’ engagement with the festival at the core of our thinking and are continuously looking at how we can improve audience experience and engagement.”

Festivalgoers can access the Safe@Festival feature once they have purchased tickets for a festival and app information is provided by the relevant organiser or promoter.
