From the Fields extends Northern Lights event series and commits to sustainability measures
After welcoming more than 100,000 visitors in its debut season, Northern Lights will return to Heaton Park this winter with A Christmas Time Machine.
Running from November 19 until December 31, the after-dark trail will once again transform Heaton Park into one of Manchester’s most anticipated festive destinations with 14 original installations, interactive zones, selfie spots and a marshmallow zone.
Emma St.Croix, senior marketing manager at From The Fields, organiser of the trail, said: “The response to Northern Lights Manchester last year exceeded all of our expectations. The warmth and enthusiasm from visitors made it incredibly special for our team, and we’re delighted to be returning to Heaton Park with something completely new.
“Since January, we’ve been reimagining every part of the experience. A Christmas Time Machine takes visitors on a journey through the festive moments that stay with us long after the decorations come down. Nodding to the traditions we return to year after year, the nostalgia of Christmases gone by, and the excitement of creating new memories together.
“We can’t wait to welcome visitors back and share this next chapter of Northern Lights with families, friends and loved ones from across the region.”
Northern Lights will also host dedicated inclusive evenings on December 2 and 9. Visitor numbers will be reduced by 75 per cent, with lower audio levels throughout the trail to create a calmer environment that may be preferable for some neurodivergent visitors and those who benefit from a more relaxed experience.
The fully accessible, mile-long route will once again feature wheelchair-friendly paths, step-free access points and seating areas throughout, alongside Access time slots and queue jump wristbands for visitors with additional needs.
Northern Lights is also delighted to announce its new partnership with OnBoard:Earth, helping to turn visitor travel to the Manchester and Leeds light trails into a force for good. For every parking pass sold across both sites, 25p will be donated to the programme, supporting projects that protect and restore the natural world in the UK and beyond.
In addition to this commitment, to reduce Northern Lights’ carbon footprint, the event will also use HVO fuel in its generators and will have carbon footprints on the food trader menus.
In other news, From the Fields has also announced details of Northern Lights Leicester. The award-winning trail will take place at Abbey Park from November 18 until December 31.
