HICDublin-based S&L Promotions is to bring its Over 50s show to the Harrogate International Centre (HIC) for the first time. The grey market, lifestyle event will take place from April 12-13, following more than 12 successful years in Ireland.

This lifestyle event, described by the organisers as “entertaining, informative and educational”, will include golf lessons, creative writing, painting and keep fit master classes, tracing family roots, travel and retirement advice, fashion and beauty makeovers, wine tasting, health checks and talks. There will also be hobby and pastime ideas and the chance to get expert advice from Eric Knowles, best known for the Antiques Roadshow, and Tommy Walsh, the building expert and member of the Ground Force Team.

Brian McCabe, S&L event show director, commented: “Harrogate is the ideal location for the new show outside Ireland. North Yorkshire is a popular area to retire to and Harrogate itself is a popular destination because of its historical attractions and wide-ranging cultural and leisure opportunities.”

Simon Kent, deputy director at HIC, says: “This is going to be a fantastic new show for Harrogate, and we are continuing to buck the trend by growing our portfolio of luxury consumer trade shows.

“The flagship Dublin event features more than 250 exhibitors, and attracts more than 23,000 visitors. We will be doing all we can to support S&L Promotions to make sure that this first for Harrogate is equally successful. And with our local population of older people set to increase to more than 30 per cent in the next 20 years, we think it will prove very popular among local residents and those living in the wider-region.”
