Jamie Oliver’s Fabulous Feasts pitched its wares in a field at WOMAD. Stand Out and Jamie were there to witness the operation…

“Can I just stop you a moment?” says a middle aged woman to Jamie Oliver. “I run a nursery and what you’ve done for children’s food is amazing.”

Oliver politely smiles says “Thank you darlin” and goes about his business, but as he wanders the fields of WOMAD a small crowd gather. Is it really him?

Yes, Jamie Oliver has landed in Malmesbury to check out his new catering operation – Jamie Oliver’s Fabulous Feasts.

It’s the second festival that Fabulous Feasts has undertaken, after making its debut at Cornbury, and punters are lining up to sample lemon drizzle polenta cakes, proper sausage parpadelle and my lovely chilli prawns fusilli.

The Fabulous Feasts menu is freshly prepared on-site from a bespoke temporary catering facility, and festivalgoers are intrigued to watch fresh pasta being prepared in front of their eyes. Oliver is focused, chatting to every team member and is inspecting the operation, consulting his team on how best to fine tune the offer. The unit provides enough space for Fabulous Feasts’ experienced event chefs to prepare a mouth-watering menu designed to suit the festival audience.

Stand Out is chatting to Glen Chadwick, managing director of Fabulous Feasts: “Having three separate branches of Fabulous Feasts allows us to deliver a great range of food to a client such as WOMAD. Our public concession offer brings quickly prepared, simple, high quality food to the masses at a reasonable price, and is a great alternative to traditional festival catering. Our corporate and private offers are equally unwavering on quality, but offer a completely different type of food suited to the requirements of VIP catering.

“Jamie Oliver’s Fabulous Feasts is all about taking event catering to a new level. We all share a passion for food and believe in the great experience we can offer guests at any event.”

Fabulous Feasts’ focus is on providing simple, cleverly sourced food, thoughtful presentation and an engaging experience that will bring food to the centre stage. Bespoke menus at competitive prices can be created for any occasion, be it corporate events, private functions, product launches, sporting events or festivals.

For festivals and other large public events, Jamie and his team have developed special concession menus, keeping things simple with fresh ingredients, which can be produced economically and quickly for these fast moving environments.

“Food is very much a part of the WOMAD experience and we are delighted to have Jamie’s Fabulous Feasts on site this year,” adds Annie Menter from WOMAD. “Our Taste the World stage blends food and music together, giving the audience a unique opportunity to get up close to the artists while they cook some of their traditional recipes. What could be better than eating really good food and listening to really good music?”

Chadwick continues: “Fabulous Feasts brings a fresh, creative approach to the event catering industry. For us, it’s about exciting and inspiring guests, starting conversations and creating an electric, memorable experience centred around the food.”

In August, Jamie Oliver’s Fabulous Feasts welcomed David Hornby to the team. Hornby brings a He will focus will be growing the business through its sales, marketing and digital activity.
