Job opportunity: Key Structures seeks managing director

Key Structures, a London-based hirer of marquees, temporary/semi-permanent structures, and other associated equipment, is seeking a managing director to lead and manage the business through the next stage of its development. This is the most senior executive position in the business and the new managing director will report directly to Key Structures’ board of directors.

Key Structures is at an exciting juncture in its development with significant growth opportunities derived from both expanding its customer base and its range of services. The business owns a significant stock of high-quality equipment underpinning its dominant position in the London market.

Established in 2008, Key Structures serves a wide variety of repeat clients including The Royal Hospital Chelsea, The Metropolitan Police, and the London Marathon. Based in Wimbledon, south-west London, the business is ideally located to service the thriving London events market.

The candidate would be responsible for all operational aspects of the business, including strategic development, new business initiatives, sales and marketing strategies, product development, HR, and all manner of other decision making associated with running a small business.

The successful candidate would have responsibility for an experienced team including 2x hire managers, an operations manager, an office administrator, 2x senior foreman and a warehouse manager. Alongside these senior roles, there is a substantial seasonal part-time staff of junior foreman and riggers.

Budgeting and finance would be managed in conjunction with the Finance Director.

  • Experience in the marquee hire business or wider events industry.
  • Leadership and managerial experience including heading up a team, setting strategy and
  • achieving targets.
  • Experience in bidding on contracts (both public and private), project management, and
  • demonstrating ability in complex logistical implementation.
  • Experience in client management with a high bar on quality service delivery.
  • A willingness to travel. Possession of a UK driving licence is important.
  • The role is office based.

Remuneration

A full remuneration package, including competitive London salary, pension and annual profit  share, is offered based on experience.
