Job Details

Title: Junior Events Technician (Hire & Production)
Type: Fixed Term, approx. May – September, ~4 months
Dates flexible to suit candidates, ideal for students
Hours: 40 hours per week
Location: Based at OX10 7BG but working nationwide, some staying away required
Salary Band: £23,795.20 pro rata
Reporting to: Hire & Production Coordinator

Job Description

The Junior Technician position is fixed term, usually around four months, to suit the needs of the business and the applicant.  It is an excellent first step into the events industry for students and school leavers.

Each summer EPS contracts two or three Junior Technicians to provide extra capacity during our busy outdoor events season.  With a huge mix of work from festival to corporate, the ideal candidate will be knowledgeable, presentable, flexible, and enthusiastic.

This is an entry level role and while experience in events is desirable, it is not essential.  The majority of our work favours technicians who are multiskilled, working across sound, lighting and AV.  However, on occasion we have larger scale projects for which a preferred discipline can be utilised.  As a company with several audio technicians, a slight bias towards lighting would be preferred but not essential.

As a small multi-discipline company, you would be expected to lend a hand to other departments as needed.

Recent events have included music festivals, streamed conferences, theatre shows.  We have a wide range of work, which is fed into by our other departments.

Duties and Responsibilities

Setting up and operating staging, sound, lighting and AV equipment
Working to and enforcing safe working practices
Liaising with clients to ensure customer satisfaction
Working with warehouse team to prepare equipment
Support jobs on-site and from the Warehouse
Support deliveries and collections from customers and suppliers
Support good stock management
Be customer facing and a representative of our company

Skills and Qualifications

Excellent communication and organisation skills
Self-motivated and capable of lone working, however also able to be part of a team
Friendly and presentable, able to be customer facing
Composed and calm under pressure, able to work to deadlines
High level of attention to detail; ability to learn from constructive criticism; willing to learn to advance their career
Comfortable working at height; strong understanding of Health and Safety
Full UK Driving Licence and desired BE, C and/or CE
Willingness for an Enhanced DBS Check
A familiarity in events and driving large vans
Reach forklift license – desirable
