Jockey Club Venues launches to corporate market

The Jockey Club raced out of the gates at Kempton Park last night with the launch of Jockey Club Venues. The new brand reflects The Jockey Club’s latest remit – to focus on the meetings and events market and showcase racecourses as more than just that – a racecourse.

Speaking to Stand Out, John Baker, group operations director, commented: “The market is tough out there. We are better known for racing but we have great facilities that need to be used 365 days of the year. The more we market ourselves as a racecourse, people will not make the connection that we are venues for everything, and so the creation of Jockey Club Venues makes sense.”

Part of The Jockey Club, the new division has been set up to specifically service the corporate, association and private meeting and event sector.

Baker continued: “We have one of the largest collections of event spaces in the UK and want to maximise non-race day opportunities. Our racecourses are close to major road and rail links and we have a proven record in managing small and large scale events from the exhibition and association market through to the renowned Investec Derby at Epsom Downs, John Smith’s Grand National at Aintree and The Cheltenham Festival.”

Under the moniker Jockey Club Venues, a central reservation department has been created for all enquiries and confirmations. Contracts and agency commissions have also been standardised throughout the collection, as has quality service level reporting through BDRC.
