Leicester City Council begins events review

Leicester City Council has started a festival and events consultation. It is asking visitors to the area’s festivals and events, local residents and businesses for their opinions to determine value for money and review the events programme which is funded by council money.

The consultation, which runs until July 27, is underpinned by the need for the council to demonstrate value for money in the events it supports and provides to ensure that public funds are put to best use.

The review proposes 15 options/proposals ranging from to maintain current spending levels and “in-house” management of events such as the Riverside Festival or cease to fund the Castle Park Festival in order to develop a new heritage and arts festival.
