LOCOG appoints stewarding contractors for London 2012
Seven event security companies have won contracts to supply the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games with stewards.
The Event and Exhibition Partnership, AP Security, G4S, Knights and Sons, Sword Security, Securitas Events and Wise Security Services have all been appointed by LOCOG and will collectively supply over 5,000 stewards. The companies will handle queue management, ushering, respond to incidents and provide information. The stewards will be positioned at Olympic venues including spectator areas and the field of play.
Paul Deighton, chief executive officer, LOCOG, commented: “I am pleased to confirm the seven companies who are providing our Games times stewards. Working as a key part of our games-time workforce, stewards will be an important part of the experience for the millions of visitors to our Olympic and Paralympic venues.”
The stewarding contractors have already started hiring extra staff for the Games. Stewarding opportunities will be advertised in job brokerages and Job Centre Plus branches across London and the rest of the UK.
