Motor Sport Hall of Fame awards race to Royal Opera House for 2013

The fourth annual Motor Sport Hall of Fame awards is moving venue and will next year take place at the Royal Opera House. Four motor sport legends will be inducted into the magazine’s growing hall of fame in the Royal Opera House’s Paul Hamlyn Hall on February 25, 2013.

The event, previously held at The Roundhouse, is a curtain-raiser to the motor sport season with current and former drivers and riders gathering to pay tribute to those that have contributed to the sport’s popularity.

TAG Heuer will sponsor the event for the fourth year and celebrate the 50th anniversary of its Carrera watch, named after the legendary Carrera Panamericana Rally.

New for 2013, Motor Sport welcomes the Grand Prix Mechanics Charitable Trust as the event’s official charity.

Damien Smith, Motor Sport magazine’s editor, said: “We’re delighted to introduce a stunning new venue for the 2013 Motor Sport magazine Hall of Fame. The Royal Opera House is an iconic landmark in London and it will be the perfect setting to welcome new members into our exclusive club for motor racing’s biggest stars.

“The addition of a charity auction in aid of the Grand Prix Mechanics Charitable Trust, with items donated by Formula 1 teams, will make our prestigious night even more special.”
