NECGroupThe NEC Group has appointed Stuart Cain as managing director of The Ticket Factory. Cain will head up the online ticketing business, and launch a marketing and media agency, Eight Feet Tall.

Both The Ticket Factory and Eight Feet Tall, which will launch in the spring, fall under the NEC’s commercial marketing division – Cain will oversee both businesses as managing director of commercial marketing also.

Eight Feet Tall will offer organisers sponsorship, media planning, branding and digital services, and the NEC is currently recruiting business development roles for the agency.

Cain has worked for The Ticket Factory’s parent company, the NEC Group, since 2010 when he joined as marketing director.

Of his appointment, Cain said: “I’m absolutely delighted to join The Ticket Factory; it is one of the most exciting and innovative brands in the industry and I’m keen to ensure that its growth continues.

“The Ticket Factory has gone from being the box office of three venues to being a national online retailer, selling for events including the RHS Flower Shows, Robbie Williams at Wembley, Michael Buble at the 02, and Crufts. I want to ensure that we keep bringing this business in and build on the success of relationships with renowned organisations like Haymarket and the Royal Horticultural Society.

“The NEC Group is one of Europe’s leading venue management and entertainment companies, and The Ticket Factory has fast become a brand as strong as the NEC, the NIA and the LG Arena. There are some exciting developments coming up for the group, including a major refurbishment of the NIA, for which I played a major part in securing Barclaycard as headline sponsor. This deal also sees Barclaycard as preferred payment partner for The Ticket Factory, which is the kind of partnership that I’m keen to bring in across the business.”

Cain’s appointment also sees FMCG expert Nicola Young welcomed as marketing services director, his previous role. Young joins from Molson Coors and Bass PLC, where she spent the last nine years working in a number of senior roles, including director of research and planning and director of marketing – insight and communications.
