New name and location for RIBEX
RIBEX has been renamed The Powerboat and RIB Show and will move to Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth following 13 years in Weymouth, Southampton and the Isle of Wight.
Organiser, Hugo Montgomery-Swan hopes that the changes will propel the event to new heights with a new name, new location and other initiatives including free entry for visitors, free RIB rides and boat trials in open water.
Montgomery-Swan said: “The change of name really marks a huge step in the evolution of the show. What was once a small, specialist exhibition is growing into a huge event and a key part of the marine calendar. With the demise of many other boat shows across the country, The Powerboat and RIB Show is in an incredibly good position to get a strong footing in the marketplace.”
He continued: “A key element in our revamp of the show has been bringing the fun and joy of the sport to newcomers. Rather than resting on our laurels and simply marketing the show to the existing audience of boating enthusiasts, we are opening it up to a whole new market. Only with this kind of thinking will the marine industry be able to forge ahead.”
The Powerboat and RIB Show takes place from May 11-13.
