Out of this world ticket sales for first Dr Who Convention

Three thousand Dr Who fans descended upon the Millennium Centre, Cardiff, last weekend to attend the first official Dr Who Convention since the series was recreated in 2005.

The convention, a joint venture between BBC Worldwide and SME London, was a sell out and saw panel sessions, live theatre show, special effects production and the world premiere of the trailer for the seventh series.

BBC Worldwide’s head of exhibitions and events, Paula Al-Lach, said: “The convention was devised, organised and executed with one thing in mind – giving the brilliantly loyal fans of Doctor Who an amazing day out. From the feedback we’ve had we believe we delivered this in spades. SME were crucial to making this happen and we are always interested and keen to work with such professionals.”
