Parklife Weekender moves to Heaton Park

ParklifeWeekenderThe organisers of The Parklife Weekender have unveiled a new location for the 2013 event – the two-day festival will take place at Heaton Park, Manchester on June 8 and 9.

Sam Kandel, organiser of Parklife Weekender, said that the fourth annual event has seen year-on-year growth – as a result, Platt Fields Park was no longer big enough to accommodate the festival. Now, the event is set to welcome more music and entertainment, larger dance arenas and more “hidden nooks and crannies”.

Kandel said: “We are very lucky that no other large scale events have been planned for the site this year, so that Parklife Weekender is able to work with Manchester City Council for what is our biggest and best festival yet. The Parklife team are very proud to see this year’s festival at Heaton Park – it definitely feels like 2013 is going to be a key moment in Parklife Weekenders history.”

Manchester City Council’s executive member for the environment, Councillor Nigel Murphy added: “We’ve worked closely with the Parklife organisers to make sure this successful event can continue to be held in Manchester. We look forward to the long term benefits, which events of this nature will bring to Heaton Park, Manchester residents and other people who regularly use this facility.”
