Grid Faeries x Ecotricity are leading the charge to power London’s outdoor music events with renewable energy – with the first-ever main stage powered by green energy – at LIDO Festival in Victoria Park. The capital’s music scene just took a big green step forward

In conjunction with LIDO Festival, Grid Faeries x Ecotricity successfully demonstrated in the real world how a mainstream London festival could radically reduce its carbon footprint without compromising safety, quality or experience – indeed, the opposite is the case, through the absence of generator noise and pollution. The most striking achievement came on the day of Massive Attack’s headline show. The entire event site operated for more than 32 hours on battery power alone.

LIDO marks the latest appearance of the Grid Faeries on their tour of Britain’s music events, next stop Glastonbury, then back to London for the All Points East festival in August, with headline acts including Cleo Sol, Raye, and The Maccabees.

Grid Faeries and A Greener Future Co-Founder Claire O’Neill said: “LIDO was a landmark moment for green festivals. We’ve shown that world-class headline acts can be powered cleanly, and that ‘business as usual’ is no longer good enough.”
