Principal contractor appointed to deliver Bristol Harbour Festival

A three-year contract for the production and management of Bristol Harbour Festival has been awarded to Richmond Event Management (REM) – the Bristol-based company has been appointed principal contractor following an extensive tender process.

Mike Richmond, managing director, REM, commented of the win: “With many councils having undertaken staff and budget cuts, a large number of events and festivals have disappeared from sight which is a huge shame for the industry as a whole.

“We offer a complete production and management package allied to revenue generation and media management – it’s a positive response to difficult times.

“As a home town event, we also have an emotional relationship to Bristol Harbour Festival which goes way beyond budgets and plans and REM is immensely proud to be working on  what we believe to be one the best free events in the country.”

Simon Cook, Liberal Democrat Councillor, signed the partnership, which will see REM deliver the first event of the three-year deal from July 26-28, 2013.

He described REM as a “very safe bet” as it will be able to bring about “cost efficiencies”.
