Spring Fair International sets a trend with scaffold

SpringFairInternationalVisitors to this year’s Spring Fair International were greeted by a unique installation at the event’s Trend Bar in Hall 6 – Emap’s Spring Fair International contracted Southgate Design, Stitch and Arena Scaffolding to create a central feature point at the trade fair, which took place from February 3-7.

Working closely with the show’s head of design, Justin Southgate of Southgate Designs and fabric suppliers Stitch, Arena mirrored Southgate’’s design concepts to create a visually striking display, visited by an estimated 3,000 people.

Each scaffold pipe was individually positioned at different height levels and formed a large torch shape fitted with pastel coloured fabrics and lights. Additional abstract scaffold features were suspended from the ceiling surrounding the main installation.

Martin Clark, special projects director, Arena Group, who led the two-day intensive project, said: “We have worked with Justin on a number of projects in the past which has allowed us to recognise what his expectations are and find solutions to any creative challenges.

“Using scaffolding as a feature point in the middle of an exhibition is a bit different to our usual scaffolding work, which is predominately support systems. This is a great example of how standard equipment can be used in a way that creates something truly unique.”
