SXS Events appointed to 2012 Bayside Festival

Mainsail has appointed SXS Events to handle all technical production at Weymouth’s Bayside Festival, which will be situated along the town’s beachfront from July 27 until August 12.

SXS has been contracted to supply two outdoor stages, additional rigging, an LED screen structure, PA towers, sound production, full technical support and sound level readings.

Visitors to the site can expect live entertainment, bars, retailers, a Jurassic Coast exhibition, an extreme skate park and sporting action via a big screen.

The Bayside Festival will run throughout the period of the Olympic Games and will provide visitors to the area with a complimentary place to visit. Between 10,000 and 15,000 people are expected to visit the site each day.

Justin Litten, production manager, SXS Events, commented: “The site is a particularly challenging one as we are going to experience some extremely high Atlantic winds, as well as salt spray at the site location for a two-week duration. This is to be expected given the nature of the sport being shown here.”

The festival will take place over 13,300 square metres of waterfront, which will be open to high winds and the elements. As a result, SXS has taken steps to have all equipment and structures tested by CJN Consulting.

Mainsail has also announced that Simon Ledger has joined the team as entertainment manager for the Weymouth Bayside Festival.
