Temporary structure alert published

The Institute of Structural Engineers has published on alert aimed at those who commission, buy or licence temporary stages and structures. The document, which can be downloaded here, has been issued in light of recent collapses of temporary stage structures in the USA and in Europe, which have resulted in fatalities and numerous injuries. The ISE states that structures that support large outdoor TV screens also offer potential risks, and so it argues that contractors and organisers need to be vigilant in ensuring that no members of the public, performers or workers are put at risk.
