Yellow Studio appointed as set designer for Eurovision Song Contest

Yellow Studio, the international design firm, has been revealed as the set designer for the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest.

Yellow Studio will join the senior production team to help create, design and deliver a large-scale and spectacular show to a global audience of more than 160 million.

Based in New York, Yellow Studio is a leading design studio specialising in production design, creative direction and art direction for television and live events. Over the past two decades, Yellow Studio and its team of creatives have worked on some of the biggest events, including the 64th Annual Grammy Awards and Disney’s hybrid live animated special – Beauty and The Beast: A 30th Celebration.

Julio Himede, director of Yellow Studio said: “Yellow Studio is honoured to be working with BBC Studios as the set designer for The 67th Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool. We are excited to deliver a spectacular show for audiences across the world and to recognise and celebrate Ukraine’s victory”.

BBC Studios Entertainment and Music will deliver the three live shows for host broadcaster BBC. It has assembled an elite team who bring a wealth of live experience to lead the production of this milestone event in British broadcasting, including executive producer Andrew Cartmell, exec in charge of production James O’ Brien, head of show Lee Smithurst, lead director Nikki Parsons, lead creative director Dan Shipton, Music director Kojo Samuel, lighting designer Tim Routledge, and Robert Edwards as head of sound.

Throughout the production, the team at BBC Studios are working closely in partnership with their Ukrainian counterparts at UA:PBC on all creative elements of the three live shows. Leading the team at UA:PBC are Oksana Skybinska (Ukrainian Eurovision head of delegation), Tetiana Semenova (executive producer of programmes and events in Ukraine) and German Nenov (creative director and music video director).

The 67th Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Liverpool, with the Grand Final of the Contest to be on May 13 2023.
