Event organisers in Scotland have been given the green light to organise live outdoor events from August 24.

At the Scottish Government’s three-weekly update to parliament, Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister, confirmed that Scotland would remain in Phase 3 of the route map. However, she also confirmed that certain outdoor live events involving open space or organised seating, with physical distancing and restricted numbers could proceed subject to guidance.

Parliament will again review the guidance on September 10 and advise whether certain other live events can begin on September 14.

They include:

  • Indoor live events, with physical distancing, restricted numbers and following guidance
  • Theatres, live music/concert halls and other indoor entertainment venues, with physical distancing requirements and following This does not include nightclubs – engagement with the sector will take place ahead of the next review.
  • Limited reopening of stadiums, following guidance and with options for testing on earlier dates where agreed with Government.
